I had a problem with my Mesh computer a few weeks ago which meant i had to format the hard drive and reinstall the operating system (XP SP2) however every time i turn the machine on it asks me to select the operating system. Both the options state the same system however, only the first works. Please help

James1978,

go to control panel-system-advanced-startup and recovery-settings, click on the edit button, and copy and paste the full entry into your thread. "Do not delete" anything in this window.

I run xp home and the start up menu reads the following.

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /kernel=logoos.exe

James1978,

I have to go offline now, but if your menu looks similar to the above,(probably twice as long) copy and paste it onto your desktop, or documents.

Where it says timeout=30 delete the 3, so that it just reads timeout=0. Do this in both instances,(if you have two entries) click on ok, and then apply, reboot and this should stop your system asking for the Os.

This thread is now locked and can not be replied to.
