johndrew kindly showed me how to save messages in OE I saved them but when I went to put them back all the folders were missing.ie should be:
C:\Docs and settings\default\local settings\application data\identies\(a long number etc)\microsoft\outlook express , all I have got is docs and settings and no file called default in there
etc. Help please I thought these files would reappear when I reinstalled XP.

David

Where did you save them?

Just open OE and grab the store folder location.

Tools, Options, Maintenance, Store Folder.

Close OE when you copy them and then reopen, they should all then be seen in OE

Did you export the messages? If so did you import them back into OE?

Once again Helproom comes to my rescue, thank you everybody.
I still don't see why I cannot find the file system I mentioned, even though when I went to move the messages, thats where OE said thats where it was storing them
