I am looking to replace a 15gig hard drive in my Dell Dimmention XPST500 computer. My system has an ATA33 onboard IDE. Can I put a modern hard drive on my computer and if so how.

Hi appy. You can fit a modern drive to your motherboard, but you will only get the ata33 speed from it. If you want to get the full speed performance of a modern UDMA100 or UDMA133 drive, you will have to fit a PCI IDE card. I don't think there is an upper limit to your hard drive size, but you can check this out at the Dell web site click here.
