Replacement Harddrive

  Survey Surfer 16:20 14 Nov 2005

I have an AJP 3GHz laptop which I purchased 2 years ago and I would like to purchase a 7,200 rpm hardrive to replace the existing one.
I could then use the older drive externally for backing up.

Any ideas as to which make of harddrives are the most reliable?

be very careful as laptops are a law unto themselves and standard drives may not fit or work.

Remember that the Bios will limit the size of hard drive you can fit not the speed, I think that possibly 80G is max for these machines click here

A lot of notebooks seem to have Fujitsu drives as original spec, judging by all the reading that I had to do recently before buying a new notebook. Apart from my new HP, the only Fujitsu drive that I've ever used was an old 13GB ATA66 type from 6 years ago. It was very reliable. Bear howard's comment in mind, though, and contact AJP first.
