My MS-Word 2000 files have become infencted with the Wrench.e virus. I checked around the web and found out a lot about it and used McAfee to clean the infected files but every time I open another Word document, they become infected again. The virus itself does very little but is an annoyance and I was wondering how to totally remove it and not just clean certain documents.
This virus uses SR1 compatible method of infection by writing a temp file to the hard drive as "c:\ascii.vxd" in order to store the virus source code and transfer to new host documents and templates. The infection process occurs during opening of infected documents and templates.
Check if you have this file which would indicate that you are still infected.
