Removing norton 2008 using Norton removal tool

  jaydee456 16:28 17 Jan 2009

Hi I have purchased Norton 2009 from Amazon at half Symantec's price so that's good for the bank balance.:)

I have downloaded the removal tool for norton 2008 which had beeen upgraded each year from 2005 version. I also have the 2008 add on pack installed.

Any advice on running the uninstall and reinstalling from the disk would be appreciated to make sure I get this right.;)
Thanks Jay

Just run it...

Disconnect from the 'net first

you will either have to switch it off or start in safe mode no networking

There are instructions at the source click here

No need for safe mode, you do want the Add-On pack migration tool.

Hi jaydee456,

This is Mike from the Norton Authorized Support Team.

The Norton 2009 installer should recognize that you have a previous version installed and will then tell you that the installer needs to remove the older version first. After the older version is uninstalled, the installation should begin and take about 1 minute to complete.

Let me know if you run in to any problems.

Hi Mike all up and running thank you. I used the removal tool first then loaded afresh from disk.
