windows ME

Hi, an elderly friend of mine seems to be having a lot of problems with her pc.

She is currently running `ME` which to me seems very slow and buggy.

I have suggested that she removes her 10 gig harddrive throw in bin. Puts in a new 80 gig maxtor drive and creates partion, formats and install windows XP. I have a new genuine version of XP which she can have.

Can you see any problems ???

ps, the ME version which she is running is so slowww... Programs take ages to load.

What you suggest should be fine but I think that an install of WinMe should be ok if the correct drivers can be found.

Stick with the 10gb disk and add the bigger one as a slave for everything except the OS and installed programs.

Another 256mb RAM will help - especially if there is onboard graphics.

Preferably up the RAM to 512 MB at the same time.

I think you will find that your friend is better off getting at least 256mb ram extra

Cant see any problems though. Used to have XP on my old PIII 700mhz machine with no problems
