Remove CDFS from USB Flash Key

  Fullywired 20:21 05 Dec 2007

hey guys!

today throught the post came an advertisment package for the new Renault Laguna, the pack contained a stylish 512Mb USB flash key, upon plugging this in i found that there was a 67Mb partition in CDFS format with the laguna info on and the remaining 420Mb was available for storage.
every time i plug the device in it autoruns the laguna software, is there any way to completely remove the CDFS partition and use the full 51Mb of the flash key?
it is not U3 compatible and i have tried Paragon Partition Manager!

With it plugged into your pc you should see it in your My Computer - right-click on its icon and opt to Format it.

only formats the USB partition, keeps the CDFS partition there

Hmm, try something like Partition Magic. click here

already tried this, partition magic does not see the CDFS partition as it shows up as a CD Drive and therefore is not detected, only 1 partition shows up in both partition magic an paragon partition manager

Right click on My Computer, select Manage then click on storage.

This will show all your drives, see if you can see the CDFS partition from here.

this is what i get in disk management, you can see the USB partition and the CDFS partition, you can format the USB partition but not the CDFS one!

Have a look on here, click here

See if any of these solutions work.

Not sure if this will work for you, maybe Killdisk will format the drive click here

Use with caution !!!

Or try with Partition Logic click here

Within the CDFS partition (if accessible) is there a Launchpad.exe ?

If so

Within this zip file exists a program named LaunchPad Removal.exe. Executing this program will remove the CDFS partition and combine it's space with the FAT partition.

Just an idea that may work, from click here

Fullywired: A thought struck me when you said it shows up as a CD drive. Maybe it could be formatted from a cd burning program.

Well it was just a thought, probably wont work though but worth a try.
