Following the advice of a recent thread, click here I have decided that I will get a couple of new hdds.

Is it easy to have a removable one which is connected as primary slave on my ide cable? Also, any chance that it might be hotpluggable. What sort of price range? What do I need bear in mind?

TIA Wanye.

If you have IDE drives they won't be hot pluggable.

There is a thread on USB drives. Not so fast I think.

You can get external USB, USB2 or FireWire hdds.

I think you can also get "hotpluggable" scsi cards which are often in servers.

Somewhere in the back of my mind is a mention of removable ide drives via a caddy but I am not sure... I'll go have a look and see what I come up with.

Well, it does not have to be hotpluggable so I will go with a removable one to take out of the office in the evening...

Maybe I will even try to do it on a raid setup whereby it is continuously mirrored.

Thanks all.
