Registry woes?

  emmos 13:18 18 May 2009

I am running Win XP, I am trying to run a programme but when I install it , it says that a programme of that name is still running.I deleted the original but it thinks it is running on a drive that is no longer on my pc. Do I need to edit the registry to stop this? - hope this makes sense!

Start -run - type msconfig - starup tab untick any boxes relating to News Rover - processes tab stop any process relating to News rover, then retry.

There is no newsrover in there.

Ok then edit the registry but MAKE A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT FIRST.
Editing the registry can be risky that is why I wanted you to check the other things first.

search the registry delete all refences to news rover and retry.

I am unable to find any reference to newsrover- which section will it be in.

Always useful to check support from the authors - perhaps this will help; click here

So the folder exists on your machine, but no references to the software in your registry?
