Can anyone tell me the steps to take to back up the registry and then restore it if i mess up the registry.
click hereScroll down to: Information About Editing the Registry. And click your operating system next to: HOW TO: Back Up, Edit, and Restore the Registry in (operating system).
Wrong link.Right one > click here
thanks for the link powerless I shall give it a try at the weekend
start>run now type regeditnow click on file>export and save the file to the loaction you want to put it inIf you "mess up the registry" just double click the saved file and this will merge into the registry
Only prob is you have got to be able to get back in to windows
or when in msdos mode type scanreg/fixor to restore a previous registry type scanreg/restoremadboy33
OK if it's Win98 or ME
I have used that in the past scanreg/restore
Not a lot happening, Think I will go to bed see ya later
I am running XP home, I have just exported the registry to a zip drive and then double clicked it and it asked me if wanted to add the backup files to the registry. So thanks for your help. ALAN
