start>run now type regedit

now click on file>export and save the file to the loaction you want to put it in

If you "mess up the registry" just double click the saved file and this will merge into the registry

I am running XP home, I have just exported the registry to a zip drive and then double clicked it and it asked me if wanted to add the backup files to the registry. So thanks for your help.
