When I loaded my XP office I spelt my name wrong.
Does anyone know how I can change it?

I can't see that it will affect the running of the program, if it ain't broke why try to fix it?

From click here

Change the Registered Owner in Microsoft Office (All Windows)
With previous versions of Microsoft Office it was necessary to re-install Office to change the registered company as shown on the splash screen and in the About dialog box. With Office 2000 and XP it can be changed in the registry.

Open your registry and find the key below for your version.

Office XP
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ Uninstall\{90280409-6000-11D3-8CFE-0050048383C9}]

Change the value of "RegCompany" and "RegOwner" to the required registered company and user names.

Then find the following registry key for your Office version.

Office XP

And rename the sub-key called "UserInfo" to "OldUserInfo".

Exit your registry, close all the Office programs and restart one. The registered company should now be changed on both the splash screen and in the About dialog box.

Thanks - but what if when you get to uninstall/...there is no value for reg company and reg user (honest!!)

  beeuuem 16:33 12 Nov 2003

I don't have XP but in the value on my machine is at

whereas the site says it should be

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ Uninstall\{00000409-78E1-11D2-B60F-006097C998E7}]

for Office 2000 Pro.

This (00010409-78E1-11D2-B60F-006097C998E7}is the first listing in uninstall on my system when the folder is expanded however it may be that yours is further down the list. Try clicking on all the uninstall listing strings till you find the one with Display Name "Office XP".

Sorry, I didn't explain very well in my last...

I can the find the value

And it is the one for XP Office

But when I open it - there's no regcompany or regowner in it - nor is there in any of my other uninstall values... honest!

I believe you - truly!
My own inclination, on my system, would be to back up the registry and then add a new value for "RegOwner".
BUT that is dependent upon how confident you are to change the registry.

Perhaps the wiser option would be to wait and see if any of the 'regulars' who know more than me can offer any advice.
