Which operating system are you using?

me on top of 98se on top 98

Put the ME startup disk into the floppy drive and rebootthe computer.

When it boots up choose the option that lets you boot from the floppy, with CD-ROM support.

When it`s booted you`ll be able to type at the prompt that appears. Type :-
Format C:
and press Enter on your keyboard.

From then on it`s just a case of reading what the computer says ie "all data will be erased do you wish to continue" etc

Use start floppy and at A:\> type format C: case there`s a misunderstanding type without the brackets

(format C:)

Word of warning, make sure you have the drivers you need, the modem is probably the most important, if you don't have that driver then you can't download any drivers you discover are missing.

how easy is it to put me back on

you`ll have to reload your operating system & install all the drivers for your motherboard, any peripherals you may have, the modem etc...i found after several formats (i`m always having bad luck with computers *L*) it got a lot easier
