reformat drive

I bought a sata hardrive and installed Ubuntu as the O.S. Now I wish to change the format to NTFS.
I installed the drive in an external caddy plugged into the usb port and my windows vista O.S. did not see the drive. How can I change the drive to NTFS ?

Have you looked at Control Panel > Admin Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management ? does it show there if so, Format from there.

Click on Start. Right-click on "Computer", then click on Manage.

Click on Disk Management. Does the drive appear?

If so, right-click on its long partition window with the coloured bar. Then click on "Mark partition as active".

Assuming that's successful, you should then be able to use the same procedure and click on "Format..."

I presume you realise that this will destroy your Ubuntu installation and anything else on the drive?
