Reducing video file size?

  numskull 10:15 19 Oct 2010

How do I reduce the size of a video file for e mailing? I tried to send one but it is 150mb and Windows Live Mail is unable to send, "not enough memory" I used movie maker and saved for e mail but file size still too large.

If you have created the file as DV or AVI then it will be large. Try making it as a wmv file which will be much smaller

Have saved it as a WMV file = 17.3mb. Tried zipping it but still 17.3mb! Error sending - file size to big.

It is only a 2 minute video of the dogs playing.

YouSendIt is good, but the download time is limited to a few days.

An alternative is to split the file into smaller parts, and send them separately. Something like this will do the job.

The download site is rather hidden, it is here:

try converting it to MP4, i use a free programe called Leawo (google it) this has options to convert video to very small size for phones and players etc.

as a suggestion might it not be good to post on U tube and mark as unlisted and post the viewer a link to it?

X7-250 Just tried your suggestion but can't find "fit to file size"

FLV is pretty small file size but not sure that you can condense 150 mb to only 10 mb!

X7-250 Thanks for your suggestion but I cannot find it! I am using Windows Live 2011 Movie Maker.
