Red 'X' where picture should be

When I'm surfing the web a red 'X' appears where a picture should be. Am I short of some software to view it or have I a problem elsewhere.

You can try right clicking and click 'show picture', this sometimes forces the pic to show up, but this red X usually means the original picture has been removed from it's storage place. The person that put the pic there placed it using a link to where the original was stored, but has now moved or deleted the original link, or cleared their storage. As far as I know anyway.
