What's the best programme for removing red-eye from digital photo's? I've tried Adobe Photoshop 5 but it proved no good for me.
Cheers,
Grezza.

MGI Photosuite is a very user friendly program for doing all sorts of picture manipulation if you can put up with the "baby" level of the interface.

As well as being an excellent Photo programme, I find Paint Shop Pro 7 most effective for removing red-eye.

I use Paint Shop Pro to edit all my photo's of Guide Dogs which my wife trains for the blind and find it is superb. I have tried others but they are nowhere near as good.. Paint shop pro 5 and 6 didn't have it by the way.

The best way to reduce red-eye is to see if you can get your flash to pre-flash: this makes the pupils of your subject's eyes close down in response to the light and then you don't get that eerie red glow - which is the flash bouncing light off the retina.

And if you're using a separate flash in the hotshoe, link it to the camera by cable instead and hold the flash above eye-level. Or tilt it up to bounce off the ceiling. The idea is to avoid firing the flash right into the eyes.

Thanks everybody for all your help, I'll work my way through to see what suits the best.

Another one to try is ACDSee. Very easy and great for editing. Cannot remember where I got it though! It came with a printer/scanner I think.
