this may sound a little odd but i've recently has one of my pc's upgraded and now have a few spares including a power supply, which i would like to use if possible to power scenic lighting on my model railway layout. the supply has 3vdc 5vdc and 12vdc which is ideal, however i asume that the main connectior cable has some sort of feed and swich wire arrangement on it as when ive powered up the transformer its dead, ie the fans dont run. does anybody know which wires are the feed and return switch wires please?

many thanks

steve

It will only work if there is a constant load on it, Switching it on without a load may have blown the PSU. It's what is called a Switching PSU
