I have been trying to set up an old laptop a toshiba satelite one and they gave me the wrong recovery disk

I believe it was the one for there new laptop. So I went about formatting the hard-drive with the recovery disk and when it had finished.

I rebooted the laptop and it didn't work so I turn it off and it came up with system error put into safe mode etc. and i click on run as normal and it just pauses and when I clicked on last know good configuration I got this message missing file \windows\system32\config\system

What can I do to fix it?

Get some one with the Correct OS disc and ether do a fresh install of it. If it's XP start with a XP CD you can use another if some one will lend you one the Choose Repair
