If I wish to record music I currently hold on MiniDisc or Cassette into my computer, how do I connect my MiniDisc/Cassette player.
My computer has a microphone socket but no line-in??
I have read that a hi-fi device output should not be connected to the microphone socket as it may cause damage.
Any suggestions most welcome.

It's not advisable to run a line-out into the microphone input because the Line-Out level will be too high, so would distort the sound.

Are you sure you don't have a line-in? These ports are generally on the back of the PC, Line-In will be pink, Line-Out (speakers) will be green and Microphone will be blue.
