Recommendations for HP Media PC

I have an HP media center PC ( Recently our very old TV broke, so I am looking for an LCD TV/monitor to use with the media pc.

Most monitors now are HD ready, so it would be good to make use of this with the media PC if possible. It has 512MB ram and a 3GHz processor. The video card has VGA, composite and s-video, so my guess is that I need to get a new video card with DVI/HDMI outputs, but I am not sure which one to get (I think I only have PCI slots). Is it worth bothering with HD on a machine that is a few years old now?

If anyone could recommend me an LCD TV and video card that would be compatible with this PC that would be great.

Thanks for your help

Most HD Ready LCD TV's have VGA Input, Mine does and I use that.

Would it be better to change the video card to use DVI though? Would it be better quality?

Also, do I need to try and find a TV that is compatible with the screen resolutions of my video card?
