Receiving faxes on computer is blocked

I am unable to receive faxes, the senders are given a voice message which says, ”Sorry, we are not receiving faxes. Goodbye.” Sending faxes from the computer presents no problem.
BT tells me that they do not block faxes. I use Windows XP Professional and the built in Windows firewall lists exceptions for the Microsoft Fax Console and also Snappy Fax. I have used both programs – sending is no problem, receiving – No joy!
Firefox v 1.0.1 is installed, with the extension AdBlock v5 d2 *nightly 39 and wonder if this latter might be causing the block.
Has anyone come across the same problem? Any suggestions would be very welcome.

Are you using BB or dial-up?

If BB, you cannot send/receive faxes in the conventional sense.

I am on Broadband, but the fax modem, on COM 3, is obviously on the normal telephone line NOT BB! As I stated above, there is no problem sending faxes, only receiving is blocked.
