RealPlayer Won't Install

  MuDelta 18:01 03 Dec 2007

I cannot uninstall RealPlayer when I try to do so using add/remove programs I get a message that and UnInstaller component is missing. I have downloaded and update of RealPlayer and when I tried to install that I am told that and other program is using the UnInstaller although I have no other programs installing.

As recommended by the RealPlayer website I have also tried a ” clean install” but this too has produced no result.

How do I do the uninstall?

Go to start, all programs, click on realplayer then uninstall from there.

You will need all the components to do so, if you have tried to uninstall using add/remove since the last download/reinstall then download/reinstall again before using the route I have outlined.

When you have it sorted this works fine for Real files

When I try to uninstall I get the message "uninstaller component missing". When I try to reinstall the install stops half way through the process so I cannot follow your route.

I have real alternative - how do I set it to work when I click on "play now" on a BBC page?

If remnants of RP are left over it may still try to play audio using that. If RP uses .MSI format you may be able to remove it using the MS cleanup here

Yes, it does. Thanks.

Tried that; no dice. Error message "Installer component missing"

Cleanup tool shows no remnants from RP.
