Real Player conflict?

  molar 12:51 03 Feb 2003

I downloaded Real Player from the BBC site to listen to Radio 3 & 4 but my computer went into total nervous breakdown the next time I switched it on. I can't remeber which number of Real Player it was. I have Windows Media Player and Windows ME, plus various image manipulation programmes. Also Office 97 Small Bus Ed.and Works Version 4.5. Also various ods and sods.
Is this a normal result?
I managed to get the computer working again by going into System Restore in safe mode. But only after a few failed attempts.
I would like to listen to the BBC but have no desire to make a mess again.
has anyone any ideas?

Go to click here oldversion .com and get version 7. Do a custom install and look carefully at all options during the process.

Ver.7 will play the BBC stuff without any problems - although RealPlayer will tell you that it is out of date.

If you have a firewall, tell it that RealPlayer can only connect to the bbc site.
