Real Player

Has anyone had this experience lately? I got a pop up to say there was an important security update for Real Player. I clicked the box but nothing happened. So I went into the the programme vis Start, all programmes, Real, Real player and then clicked on "check for updates". Result my computer crashed and restarted itself.

So I tried again - same result. I suspect a conflict so have uninstalled real player.
Is Real player safe?
Does anyone know of any known conflicts
Thanks in advance

a critical hole has just been patched, use check for updates within real player.

Thanks Sunny

Thats actually what I did which caused the crash.
What if I start from scratch and re-download the full programme. Is it safe?

Take VOg's advice. Real Alternative is lighter on your PC and a lot less hassle.

have you got something blocking the update, maybe a security program.

delete realplayer restsart pc, then download fresh and install.

Thanks everyone. I'm going to try the beta programme. If that fails then Alternative it is.

Thanks again

Sory folks
I thought I had cracked it, but the realplayer 11 beta also crashed the machine when I tried to run it. I guess I'll go for real alternative and later see if I have a conflict with one of the security programmes. I run McAfee and AVG and they seem to be compatable.

Any comments would be appreciated
