Re-using Hard drive

Hi

I am going to build a new PC for my brother-in-law but re-use the Hard Disk I already own.

Should I reformat the Hard Disk before I connect it to the new machine or when I want to load on the OS for the new machine.

The disk currently has Win XP Pro on it and I am going to put Win XP Home on it with the new PC.

cant see that it would make much difference just so long as you dont try to boot from the hard disk in the new machine as it wont recognise any of the hardware

It isn't easy/possible to load XP home on top of XP Pro, whether or not it is booted. You would be best formatting in your current setup first.
