R.e. SP2 and restore points.

  dagwoood 21:11 11 Aug 2004

I downloaded SP2 yesterday and then installed.

There were no problems with the installation and my system seems to fine(famous last words ;-) ).

The thing is, all my restore points have disappeared.
Should this've happened?

I installed sp2 today, all my restore points are still there.

Err, downloaded SP2 from where?

I've just visited the Windows Update site and wasn't offered it as a download.

Thanks for the reply absent.

I've just done a quick search on the Microsoft site and according to the installation guidelines, when SP2 installs it should automatically create a restore point.

Apart from not doing that, it's sucked all my other restore points off.

I set my restore disk space usage to 2%(650MB)and not the default value of 12%. Wander whether it has anything to do with that?

Oh well, my first foible with regards to SP2. I've created a restore point manually and I'll see if that disappears.

Jackcoms, check out Powerless's thread click here

This is the whole SP2 package and's a download of over 260MB.

Thanks. Do you have a separate link to the site??

Your link only opened a download dialogue box and, wary sort of guy that I am, I want to think/read about it before downloading anything!

Is this the final version or just another beta?

I thought from previous posts in this forum (including one from the FE) that it was more likely to come in at around 85mb.
