In view of all the controversy I read about NAV, if I decided to instal one of the frequently suggested free AVs would it be sufficient to totally disable NAV as opposed to removing it. My reason for suggesting this is to avoid the aggravation that I often read about because of the difficulty in removing Norton. My firewall is not Norton so is not involved. Also, will doing as I suggest stop NAV using large resources as it won`t be running. My OS is xp home sp2 and I have lots of free space on the HD.

You should be OK disabling Norton and then it won't be using any resources.

Personally, I would remove it. click here= may help you.

Message for VoG, have now downloaded AVG free and installed it. Went easily. Will run it for a week or two to get used to it and if I like it will keep it. Meantime NAV is disabled. Regards, Meshuga.
