Re installing Windows XP

I am thinking of re-installing XP Service pack 2 as my computer is now taking too long to complete booting.

Once I have done this and got the system booting and installed and having set up my LAN (wireless router or USB modem) but before I install any other programmes would it be possible to copy the contents of the C drive to my virtual D or F drive on my second actual drive, so that at a future time I could just format the C Drive and copy the OS back from the D or F drive. (Ensuring that the hidden files are set to be visible).

The reason for this is that as I network with a non windows PC (RiscOS) I have to manually configure the Windows PC.

Looking forward to reading you thoughts.

Basically no. Not on its own.

You can do this but you need a program windows can't do it itself. You need something like Acronis Drive Image to do it.

To reinstall you must immediatly after windows is up and running install the motherboard drivers before you install anything else.
