How do I re install windows xp system files, without re installing all of windows?

Hi, start as if installing XP, then choose to Repair XP, rather than Install XP.

Do you have a windows disk or a recovery floppy?
If it is a disk set the bios to boot from CD Rom first then put the disk in and reboot and follow Technotiger's advice and if it is recovery floppy put that in and reboot and follow instructions

Or you could use the System File Checker (SFC) program. It is invoked from the command line and will also need the XP Recovery/Installation CD in your CD drive.

>Start >Run
and type "sfc /scannow" without the quotes.
