when I tried to install after unzipping, I was warned that the driver file was not microsoft signed and if I comtinued, it might cause problems with my system. So I aborted. What next.

If you have downloaded from Nvidia or ATI just ignore the warning and carry on.You can always go back to previous drivers if problems occur

You will always get that message as developers do not want to pay microsoft for testing their product to get it certified. I have just downloaded and insalled latest drivers for my graphics card got the same warning. Also the previous driver download had same message and I have never had a problem.
