ME no longer supports the switch "FormatC:/s" command at the A> prompt when trying to format the drive. Does anyone know what the command is to format please. I have already created a Start up disk.

Format C: is no problem, it's the /s that ME doesn't support.

Providing you have a boot disc and have verified it works, formatting without the system file switch is no problem.

Format your drive, boot up with the floppy and off you go.

As above start with a Win98 Floppy start disc then type

FORMAT C: press enter y for yes n for no

You are doing somthing wrong. go hear for a Win98se OEM floppy, after downloading put a floppy disc in the computer and double click the download file to create the Start flopy.click here or a WinME oem may work. Your computer needs to be able to boot from the floppy disc then do the above after starting with the floppy

What do you actually mean? Are you getting an error message or what?

  anniesboy68 16:04 09 Aug 2004

Yipee, its going, I typed Format C: [no slash] and its going Using Win 98 disk

thanks all for input....The error messages were various too many to type, nevertheless win 98 is loading and M E to go on top [upgrade] hopefully

Just out of interest, you could have saved yourself time and potential conflicts by loading your ME disc from scratch.

All that would happen, is it would ask you to put your Win 98 disc in the CD drive during the installation processs, just to verify that you are entitled to an upgrade.

If you do it again sometime, a tip worth remembering.
