Range on my home wireless network randomly reduced

  bobalob 10:00 05 Feb 2014

My internet has worked fine for months but last week the wireless stopped working when I used my laptop in my room, I thought it had stopped working entirely but I can connect but only if I am within 1-5 metres of the modem which is significantly less than it was before. But when I connect my laptop to my schools internet it works fine 15 metres from the nearest modem

Possibly something interfering with the signal. Try changing the wireless channel.

Thanks for the suggestion ill try it,

Also My two brothers who also have laptops have no problems, same with every other device using internet in Our house

Hm - If the other devices don't have a problem then it may not be interference but changing the channel will not hurt.

You may be better to delete the connection for the laptop and recreate a new connection in network settings
