I am trying to upgrade my RAM. The spec of my computer is a 2Ghz Pentium 4, 80Gb Hard drive and 512mb of Ram (2x256mb). The motherboard is in the title. I am running Windows XP SP3 with all recent updates. I understand I need RIMMS of RDRAM in pairs.
I would like to updgrade to 2gb, 1 Gb in Bank 0 (2x512mb) and 1Gb in bank 1 (2x512mb).
Can this board take 2Gb? Is there a maximum amount of RAM that boards can take?
Crucial don't sell RDRAM, in fact I'm not sure it's even manufactured by any company anymore. Your best bet is to look on eBay as RDRAM is incredibly expensive- my grandad spent £180 on a 2x 256mb new a few years ago and that was the cheapest deal we could find.
Although it is up to you, I personally would not spend so much money on such an old system when the price of the ram is half that of a new pc!
