Hi, my pc has 256MB Of RDRAM and my friend just brought me up a 128 stick of ram from his old pc of which i do not know the type. If i put this in and it is not compatible will it mess up anything?

Sorry I'm a hardware noob. Its a Dell Dimension 8200 if that matters?

thx in advance.

Yes DO NOT ft if not compatible with your motherboard.

What markings can you see on the RAM serial No, etc. ?

It'll may be OK only if it's RDRAM too. Some motherboards support more than one type of RAM, but only one type can be used at any given time. If the 128Mb fits, I wouldn't risk it even on its own - actually, it would be pointless to try anyway! G

on the back theres a sticker that says..
----------------------------------------------------
MT16LSDT1664AG-10EC7 PC100-222-620
SG NA3S3012 199946
COMPAQ 32013-001

(and then a bar code)
----------------------------------------------------

I won't try until I'm sure it wont mess anyting up.

Appears to be a PC100 SDRAM module click here (may more references click here), so it won't be compatible. G
