RAM Problem

My laptop in Sys Properties is stating that I have 192mb RAM. The RAM card is 256mb. I thought that I had a faulty card but someone has told be that a portion of the RAM may be dedicated to support the graphics. Is this fact and how do I tell if this is so?

It would suggest that you are using onboard graphics, which will be using the other 64Mb.

meant to add, if you reboot your pc, you should see a statement like VGA 64MB.

The recommended min. Ram for Win XP is 256. Am I short of O/System Ram?
