Evening all

My wife has an Advent 7113 running Vista Home Premium with 1024 ram. I want to increase this. I went to crucial but it could not scan properly and give me upgrade option, said I only had one bank of 1024. Ran Belarc which states "M1 empty" & M2 has 1014" & max compacity approx 312k. Would someone be kind enough to advise if I can increase the ram and if so by how much and how.

Thanks
WRG

Many thanks for your quick reply. I did visit this website and when it scanned it could not determine and upgrade/increase. I tried to specify the model but it does not list the Advent 7114

However, run SIW click here and check under motherboard to see if it will take more.

Thank you all for your replies. Crash the motherboard is dixonsxp (belarc says circuit board). Does anyone think upgrading the ram will make the lappie quicker, it seems very slow to load up and close down and is not the quickest when opening the internet or other applications. Have scanned, defraged and checked for virus's etc and not found any.

Can I just buy a 2gb module and fit it in the bank where the current 1gb module is or will I need to buy another 1gb module and try and fit it in the other bank.

You could just by a 2gb stick of ram and replace the old one but it would be slower than 2x1gb sticks but not by much
