RAM compatability

I have an elderly computer that I am unable to install an OS on. I have been searching t'interweb and it appears that faulty memory sticks may be a contributory factor. The MB is ATA100 with an unidentified Intel processor, and contains two sticks of:

"eRam 256Mb DDR333"
From a redundant computer I have to hand two sticks of:

"Value Ram KVR333X64C25/512"

Can I safely replace the 256Mb with the 512Mb? The two sticks are physically the same dimensions.

Cheers

What OS are you trying to install?

At a pinch, XP will run on 256MB, try installing using just a single stick.

Yes you can swap sticks as they are both

DDR 333MHz 184 Pin
