Raid Technology, what is it.

I have just bouth a new motherboard kit and it is going on about setting up Raid. Can anybody tell me in simple terms Raid does to improve performance and is it just for games? The kit I have purchased is listed below, I also baought a new tower and PSU.

Redundant Array of Inexspensivd Drives

Its a way of using diskdrives that work together as one but if one fails then the other disks are used and no data, a mirror RAID has 2 disks and they are bothe writen to and if one fails the the other disk is used. Thats the simple one Raid goes from Raid 0 to Raid 7 and more. Do your self a favour don't let it bother you and ignore it
