RAID 0+1

Do both drives on the 0 side have to be the same size? I understand that the 1 side has to be the same size as the 0 side as it is a mirror.

Please do not point me to lots of sites about Raid, as I have looked through loads which all show examples of using say four 80gb drives, but none that specifically say that both drives on one side have to be the same size.

I have 2 80gb and 2 250gb HDDs and was hoping for an 80gb and a 250gb on each side, but I'm beginning to think that this is not possible.

Any help appreciated.

Is that because I would have to make the 250gb appear as 80gbs therefore leaving me the equivalent of 4 80gb drives? I was hoping for 330gb on each side.

So you are basically saying YES they do both have to be the same size?

Hmmmmmm, that kind of says to me that they all physically have to be the same size, but I'd like to know for definite. If not I will have to go for 2 Raid 1 setups, one of 80gb and one of 250gb.
