I have the Pro myself, but scarcely use it's capabilities. The Pro has every up to date enhancement for 3D graphics giving the most realistic rendering of moving images.

In other words it's idealised for use with the latest games, and if you don't use games, save your money and buy the lesser card.

It's now the ATI Radeon 9800 for the latest version by the way, the 9700 has been superceded and might be on offer if you keep your eyes peeled.

For game playing, the standard 9700 is fine. I have the Sapphire model and it runs fine at high resolution with in-game graphics options set at their highest, although this will of course depend on the other system components.

I do appreciate however that you may be considering one of these cards for other purposes.
