It's a good card if it came with new comp

The Radeon 9700PRO was one of the best graphics cards ever made. It sure saved ATI's butt and proclaimed them as the graphics King's for a long while. Apparently this card is no more since ATI discontinued them. So if you are planning on getting one somewhere, you'll barely be able to get one that is new. If it came woth a new computer then thats fine. But this card is outdated and by the better 9800 cards. So best to get those since prices are very cheap now and many computers come with them.

I have one in my pc which is a similar vintage to yours. Make sure you have the latest Catalyst drivers (4.5) and you won't have any probs.

I get just over 5000 on 3dMark03 which seems quite respectable for a pc of this age (rest of the system - Asus A7N8X Deluxe, AMD xp2700, 1Gb pc2700 Win XP home)

If you want a good game to test it out - try 'Far Cry' - it's the first game that will really utilise all the directX 9 features and it looks superb.

9800 pro (new version) £130 - £150 at the mo, don't think the 9700pro is available anymore.
