  galatic door 12:15 14 Feb 2003

Hi all,
I have looked through the forum can't find anything.
1. My problem is when you go to start-programs i have got more programs than the comp can show.
how do i move it along so that i have two columns showing the programs and then i dont have to use the arrows.
2. how do i rename the start button on the taskbar?
3. When i right click on my desktop the computer completely freezes its a switch it off and back on again.
Any know why?

What OS?

General observation - create categories for your programs,eg Graphics,Audio-Visual,System Tools,Games, etc.

1. The programs should be at the bottom of the list, below the shevron. Just hover your cursor over the shevron and they will be displayed. You can move a program in the list to wherever you want to. Just click, drag and drop it where you want it.

2. You could try TweakUI to remane the button

3. sorry not got an answer for this one. Maybe somebody else can help?

click here galatic door, I'm not sure whether it will work with 98se, as it state all O/S but 98se. Using TWEAKUI is far easier than going into the registry.

Start Menu properties. Also, advanced properties, uncheck Scroll Programs.

This might help, but Leo49's suggestion is best.

Another way is to create a second task bar by dragging a toolbar off the Task Bar onto the desktop, and then to another side of the screen.

I have my main Taskbar at the top of the screen because it is easier to drag the mouse down than up as one is accustomed to select menus that way.

Another taskbar at the bottom contains icons for System Tools, Graphics, References, and Entertainment.

My start menu has just eight items with large icons.
