A question on USB mice

  woodchip 18:23 25 Nov 2005

Does any body know of the feasability of a new USB plug being fitted to a Mouse. I have just had two optical Wired Laptop mice plugs that have gone. The weak link seams to be just at the back of the plug. I am now using a PS2

I dont see why not, depends on the abilities of the individual to solder and the availability of USB plugs.

Yes I could but don't think they can be bought. It just seam stupid to keep buying new mice. I have done it at the mouse end no problem as mouse can be opened. But plug end is Modular

Could you not try cutting the plug off a cheap USB cable and joining that to the mouse cable in order to give it a trial

I did buy a Usb cable and cut the end of so I could connect to a MS Intely mouse some years ago, but the cables are too thick and heavy. It worked but as above clumsy. It still works but it's now in a cupboard
