Question about IE and Firefox

This is probably a silly question, but if I save a Word table as a web page, then copy and paste it into a page on our website, why doesn't it look the same when I view it in IE8 and Firefox?

Thanks

A web page is made up of Text and graphics, and HTTP approved formatting
A Word document is a Formatted document, and not all web programs apply the formatting the same, hence the difference

Thank you both, that's helpful. It's a really simple table, showing details of a competition - name, title of photograph and its placing. Then there's another league table which shows names, scores for each round with a running total.

It seems so simple, but I don't know if the website we have is not a good one for text stuff (but it's ideal for the photography we show). I never seem to be able to get consistency when I add more tables. It's supposed to be WYSIWYG, but it's anything but!
