Question about Anti-Malware/Anti-Spyware

  ykzn 09:38 20 Jun 2008

Hi all!

I honestly want to know which anti-malware/anti-spyware software to use. I know that there are so many anti-malware/anti-spyware software. One of my friends suggested me that Spybot is a good one but then, another friend told me that it is not.

So, please, all suggestions are welcome. I need some advice for it! Thanks!

Anti Spyware :-
Adaware click here
Spybot S&D click here
Spywareblaster click here
Spycatcher express click here
a2 click here
Windows Defender click here
AVG Antispware click here
Superantispyware click here

One will not catch everything.

I use Defender as a realtime scanner
Spywareblaster as a blocker and superAntispyware as a backup scanner

never had a problem using this combination,.

Spybot S&D is someting of annoyance to the big boys because it keeps finding things they can`t, and it shouldn`t really be as good as it is considering the relatively small amount of money spent on it.

There is no conflict with SuperAntispyware, so you can have both, but instead of Spybot`s Teatimer, use SpywareBlaster:

A-Squared free is another good one, often recommended here:

Defender, SpywareBlaster and A-Squared.

I also use Avast AV which now has anti-spyware and anti-rootkit protection as well.

Never let me down yet

She was getting error messages, slow boot up, faltering browsing etc. Grandkids had loaded plenty of rubbish at start up.

Installed A squared and on a fast scan it found 462 medium risk items.

I also installed Firefox 3 for her and did the usual defrag/disc clean up/msconfig stuff etc. Took an hour.

The difference in the PC is astonishing.

Forgot to mention ... check this out before you are tempted to run a so-called "free scan" by some product you`ve never heard of. The "false positive as a goad to purchase" is something of a disgrace:

Malwarebytes Antimalware is proving to be an excellent piece of kit, thanks to all the input from all the guys in the field.
Unfortunately the free version does not give you real-time protection.

I second Malwarebytes Anti-Malware it is indeed an excellent piece of kit, been using and testing it for Marcin for quite some time.
