You've ticked this so you might not read it, but in case you do this is handy to know. If go to the command line and type 'ping www. google.co.uk' it will test the site directly by returning its address like this:
PING www. l.google.com (188.8.131.52) 56(84) bytes of data.
You can do that with any site to check if its on line.
Thanks. I have used the ping command and tracert before to diagnose problems with my network etc. but have never thought to use it for this purpose. After I typed the link to Site up, I read the advice on the site up page on how to perform these tests from your own PC and realised I could do this just as well myself.
