Quality with files on DVD

I have been having a problem. I have been using Power Director to edit movies, and the files on the computer look good.

However, the problem I've bee having is that when I try to put the files onto DVD the quality seems to diminish.

The color is a bit off, the frames move slower, and it skips sometimes. Could this be because of the DVD player that I am using to watch the movie?

I've watched it on 3 different players, seems to be a bit different on each one, but not perfect.

I also noticed that the files I am capturing don't look the same as they do on DVD.

Is the quality much better with the S-Video cord?
