Hi Guys

Unsure if my PSU is failing or the CPU/Fan is on its way out i have had 3 hdd and a dvd writer all have been working fine until the machine shuts down and restarts, a program given in a prev link advised was the HDD so have bought another HDD and new IDE connectors now the machine starts gets roughly 5 secs into starting and just restarts again and again, the only way i can use the machine is by only having a HDD with nothing else using XP home any ideas before i buy either a new case or i may need a new MBD and CPU

thanks in advance

you do not say what size your psu is - with 3 hdd and dvd it could be strugling if it is less than 350W. The bigger the better. When a psu is on its last legs you do get what you are getting. Try disconnecting every drive except the main hdd and see what happens.

I can't remeber the PSU size is there a way to find out i did build the machine roughly 3 yrs ago, the machine will work fine with just the 1 HDD

The PSU will have a label on it with lots of technical information, including its max. power rating.
