i am trying to get my dell ps2 keyboard to work in a usb socket on my dell (win Xp)pc using a belkin ps2/usb plug in adapter.
but when connected up keyboard does'nt work (no lights...nothing).
if i try the keyboard a message appears on screen saying an unknown usb device has been detected prompting a seach for drivers which it can't find on the PC nor on dell Driver CD (key board works fine thro ps2 port).
[in case you're wondering i want to run 2 pc's from one keyboard/mouse/monitor using a belkin KVM
switch, which is all usb as is everything else except keyboard].
any ideas please?
thanks

gener prcinple for any usb device

install software before you plug it in

uninstall (remove) unknow device and install software

adapter came without software ("plug and play" none required apparently)
driver for keyboard already installed on pc as key board works fine thro ps2 port
